Using MyStorage

Running MyStorage
MyStorage can be found as a shortcut on the IC desktop. To run, just double click.

The Main Dialogue Box

  • When you first run MyStorage, a small box will open asking for your username and password. There are three choices for logging in here: U-Storage, Class Storage, or a separate share not host ed by the university.

  • To login to U-Storage or Class Storage, use your UCSBnetID and password. Use U-Storage if you want to use the web space granted by the university.

  • To login to another share, click on the "Other" button in the bottom left. A small dialogue box will pop up asking for your information. Enter the server and share name along with your username and password, and hit the OK button to login.

Logging In
After entering your UCSBnetID information, hit enter OR click the small box in the "Connected" column next to your information. If your information was entered correctly, a new window will appear. This window will be the root of your storage share. If you are using U-Storage, the "uweb" folder located here will be where all your files are stored.

Transferring Files
After logging in, the window that appeared can be used like any other window. To transfer a file to the server, just drag and drop it into your web space. To transfer a file from the server and onto your computer, simply drag and drop it from the window to the desired location on your computer. For more information on using U-Storage for web space, please visit http://www.uweb.ucsb.edu.

Logging Out
To log out, go to the MyStorage main dialogue box, and click the "I'm Leaving" button at the bottom. Alternatively, if you still want to login again, you can uncheck the box in the "Connected" column, and enter your new information. The last method is to simply close the main dialogue box. You will be prompted to make sure you have closed all your open files before the program closes.
