Printing
Instructional Computing incorporates the UnipriNT system in its computing labs. UnipriNT is a cost recovery system designed to charge users for printing. The user sends the print job to a print queue, where it waits for the user to authenticate it. To authenticate, the user visits a print station where he/she logs in with a UCSBnetID and password. The print station is generally located in the front of the lab, next to the printer.

The system then displays a list of print jobs waiting. (see Figure 2) The owner field lists the name of the computer that sent the job, so you can determine which job is yours (in the case where multiple jobs have the same name).

Print Jobs
Figure 2

When you click on a job, the number of pages and cost is indicated in the lower left hand corner (see Figure 2). Your current balance is displayed as well, so you know how much you will be charged at the end of the academic quarter. When you click Print , the job is sent to the printer and you are billed.

Requirements for printing at Instructional Computing
Student UCSBnetID and BARC account
Staff/Faculty recharge budget number
Others If you don't meet any of the above requirements, you can purchase a print card at the Library and print in the Library from the Library Computers.
How do I obtain a UnipriNT account?
All students with a UCSBnetID and a BA/RC account automatically get UnipriNT accounts.

Where will I see the charge?
The debit will appear on your BA/RC bill with the description INST. COMP. PRINTING

I'm in a wheelchair, and can't access the print station, what can I do?
There are a number of things we can do to help. First, go to Phelps 1517 and ask for someone in the Academic Systems Group. We can show you how to use any computer in the lab to release print jobs(we have to give you a special computer account and password). If you have a laptop, we can setup printing, so you can print directly from your laptop and release print jobs directly from your laptop. As of December 2006 we also have a wheel chair accessible desk for those students who have their own laptop in our Open Access Lab (Phelps 1513).

What if the page doesn't print? How do I get credited?
What is the Uniprint Refund Policy?
We will always accept any request for a printing refund.

We will always perform a refund when there is a printer failure.

We generally won't give a refund when a customer makes a printing error, i.e. printing a spreadsheet that has a blank second page, or inadvertently printing on a color printer when you meant to print on a black and white printer.

Your chances of getting a refund are greater if you can provide good information on the online request form.

If you want to view your printing history online or request a refund, please login to this online webform

The request will be passed to an IC staff member, who will examine the merits of the request (they may contact you via email, so make sure you aren't over quota on your email account). After we process this request, we will notify you via email.
