Computer Lab Management
As of Spring Quarter 2009, Instructional Computing supports over 350 lab machines in 13 physical labs across Campus, all of which have hardware and software installed and maintained on an ongoing basis. We serve over 35 departments in the College of Letters & Science and the College of Engineering, as well as supporting Computer Labs for the divisions of Student Affairs and Athletics. Lab Machine usage from the UCSB Campus has been tracked to be over 18,000 unique users for the 2007 calendar year. Due to outreach efforts, IC Labs expects to continue to increase clientele over the next few years, ultimately providing lab operations management for over 700 stations.

Because we provide these computer lab management services on a much larger scale than any individual department, we're able to offer economies of scale that simply can't be matched. Computer Lab Scheduling
IC provides both "open access" ('drop in' type environments generally for student studying use) as well as "instructional" (Faculty with curricula that require computer usage) Lab space. If you are an instructor who needs a classroom environment for some or all of your classes, please visit our lab scheduling section to get started. Please note that reservations are "first come, first serve" so you'll want to schedule as far in advance as you can to get your desired time slots.

Although our primary mission at IC is to support UCSB students, faculty and staff, our labs are also available for rental on a limited basis. Depending on the time of the academic quarter, community organizations are able to rent IC facilities for their instructional computing needs. Cost Recovery Printing
IC also provides a cost-recovery printing solution in every lab it manages, as well as for UCSB departments that are interested in implementing a cost-recovery printing system without having to worry about developing and maintaining the system.
